The Xceed SmartUI version 2.0 control uses different GUIDs (Global Unique Identifiers) and a different filename from the version 1 control.  This allows you to keep using SmartUI version 1 installed on your system to maintain older versions of your application.  

The Upgrade Wizard is a small utility that will upgrade all the previous versions of SmartUI controls (including Sax SmartUI v1.0, v1.1 or v2.0) used in your Visual Basic project to version 2.0 .  

Step 1: Make a backup copy of your project and start the Upgrade Wizard.

A shortcut to the Upgrade Wizard is installed under the Start Menu, under the Programs, Xceed SmartUI group.

Step 2: Enter the filename of your Visual Basic project.

The Upgrade Wizard does not directly support .VBG (group) projects: You need to run the wizard on each .VBP project individually.

Step 3: Close the wizard and open your converted product.

Note: The Upgrade wizard only converts your control ; it does not change any of its properties.  To avoid surprises it will leave the XP Property set to False. If you want to give your application an Office XP look & feel you need to set the XP property of each of your SmartUI controls to True.
