Spring enhancements: New Material Design and WinUI Themes, Excel Export for WPF, and much more

Xceed has recently released a new version of Toolkit Plus for WPF, featuring a Material Design Theme, which will soon be integrated into the DataGrid for WPF. Additionally, Xceed is working on a WinUI-based theme for all WPF controls, expected to launch this summer, along with a major revamp of Excel export functionalities. New features for Xceed Workbooks for .NET are also in progress, and partnerships continue to influence development.

First, let’s talk about WPF, because there’s quite a bit to say about our WPF products.

As you might know, we recently released a new version of Xceed Toolkit Plus for WPF, which includes our new Material Design Theme. The feedback from our users have been so positive that we’ve decided to integrate the same theme into our DataGrid for WPF component! This upgrade should be available to all users in May.

In addition to this new theme, we also redid the entire Live Explorer in DataGrid for WPF to showcase how well the product fits in this new environment. Here’s a screenshot of the current version, you can see more in my video:

The source code for this theme will be available with our samples so that you can dig in and let yourself be inspired by this glorious looking theme.

If that wasn’t enough, we’re also working on adding another theme based on Microsoft’s WinUI. You can find more about that theme here : https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/apps/winui/

If you’re too lazy to check out the site for yourself (or if you’re so caught up in the moment that you don’t want to take your eyes off this update), here’s a preview of what Microsoft has to say about this theme:

The Windows UI Library (WinUI) is a native user experience (UX) framework for both Windows desktop and UWP applications.

By incorporating the Fluent Design System into all experiences, controls, and styles, WinUI provides consistent, intuitive, and accessible experiences using the latest user interface (UI) patterns.

In fact, we’re so excited that we’ve decided to integrate the theme to all of the WPF controls in both Xceed DataGrid for WPF and Xceed Toolkit Plus for WPF. If all goes according to plan, we expect to have those updates available later this summer. As an extra bonus, Xceed DataGrid for WPF will also receive a major revamp to its Excel export functionalities at that moment.

Now let’s talk about some Document Libraries-related news.

If you’ve been keeping up to date, you know that we now have a new product called Xceed Workbooks for .NET. What you don’t know is that we’ve decided to integrate some of its functionalities in our DataGrid. That’s right! Expect to be able to create proper formatted .xlsx files directly and easily from the DataGrid soon! We do not currently have an ETA on this functionality, but I can say that the implementation is progressing very well.

As usual, all our products have also received bug fixes and enhancements and you can expect a lot of new features in Xceed Workbooks for .NET for version 1.2. In fact, we currently have a solid partner with whom we share our backlog of functionalities, which allows us to have as many real-world scenarios as possible influence the features we decide to integrate into our development process.

I believe this is what makes us different at Xceed! We’re not afraid to reach out & build partnerships with other companies. Our Xceed Partners are a big part of how the company has evolved through time and we’re always eager to meet kindred spirits.

If you would like to become an Xceed Partner or if you have any requests of new functionalities that you or your company need, please take a minute to contact me at matt@xceed.com so we can talk about it. This is how we build bridges: we start with a few ideas that slowly develop into solid foundations that will last for years to come!

So that’s it for now! There’s a lot more coming this summer and, as usual, the rest of the year will be filled with all sorts of enhancements to our products line-up. Stay tuned and enjoy your Spring!
