Rijndael is a symmetrical block cipher encryption algorithm designed by Joan Daemen and Vincent Rijmen and selected as the proposed encryption algorithm for the U.S. Advanced Encryption Standard. It typically uses 128, 192 or 256-bit keys. Its qualities include a simple and elegant design and that it is designed to be efficient and fast on modern processors and to be compact enough to fit on small hardware and smart cards.
