Programmatically adding combobox to datagrid using v2.5 gridcontrol

I am trying to add a combo box to a Xceed.Grid.GridControl at runtime using VB .Net.

We have a v2.5 registered license key and using VS 2005. My dll for the control is 3.6.*****, and I have had an error message relating to the CellViewerManager only avail for version 3 or higher.

Is it possible to add the combo box to the grid control using version 2.5 licence key, or do I need a newer version?

If I am able to add the combo box without upgrading, can someone adise me where to look for an example of this.
