    Wish list for next release

What would you like to see in the next version of Xceed SmartUI?

    Examples:

    - Office 2003 look & feel?
    - Specific pre-built controls?

This thread is for public discussion about where Xceed can take this product.

Re: Wish list for next release

    1. I would like to see some performance improvement when using the .Indent and .Setparent properties.
The control is fast for a big number of items unless you use a combination of both properties.

    2. XP look & feel scrollbars

    3. The explorer task pane (as found in the .net version) would be very nice!

Re: Wish list for next release

Office 2003 look & feel would definately be a plus, in a perfect world COM and native Win32 programmers would have access to the latest Windows GUI enhancements (XP/.NET) without having to change to another development environment.

    - Different font style for the Caption and the Value.
    - Round rectangle frame to look like XP frame.
    - Support multiselect when you build a treeview.
    - XP style panel to replace the Microsoft tabbed control

Re: Wish list for next release

Maybe a rewrite in a better language for developing components? I think all the VB subclassing and hacking is causing the component's strange reaction to resizing code.

Re: Wish list for next release

    Hi Odi,

Any idea when there will be an update of the ActiveX version of the SmartUI control?

I really would like to have the Office 2003 look & feel!

Re: Wish list for next release

    Hi Odi,

    Userinterface:
    1. Office 2003 will be very nice. Some other suppliers offer already activeX controls with the Office 2003 look.

    2. Update the outlookbar to the 2003 or new XP style

    3. using XP or custom themes

    Functionality:
    1. Using the arrow keys in an editbox is not always possible. e.g. When it's used on a toolbar.

    2. set the cursor position in a editbox, eg. when an edit box is selected the cursor is located at the beginning of the field. See also the SelLength and SelStart on a normal editbox.

    3. specifying the number of lines in a combobox. Currently this is fixed. It would be nice if this is adjustable.

    4. When an object is displayed in a micsobject flat item (like a rtf or html control) the highlighted border is not displayed when the object within the item has the focus.

Could you tell me when an update will be available?

I got a reply from technical support:
    <pre>
    Hi,

Unfortunately nothing has been announced about a new version of the SmartUI control. Therefore the control is unlikely to change in future months.

    Best regards,

So I think we to have look for some other providers of ActiveX controls. :~

Re: Wish list for next release

    Hello,

Here's my wishlist (not in any specific order):

    --User Interface--
    - Office 2003 look (like .net control)
    - Explorer pane (like .net control)
    - Office Task Pane (like .net control)
    - IE6 menubar look for menubars (popup highlight effect)
    - Automatic Chevrons on menubars & toolbars if needed.
    - Add visual left-sided bar (or double-bar) to simulate CoolBar/Rebar look.
    - XP Look to scrollbars.
    - Ability to set scrollbars on left or right side.

    --Functionality--
    - SaveTemplate & LoadTemplate : to other formats than 'STP' (like INI & XML); save only the listimage or the smartitems, or subitems.
    - Ability to add 'reduce', 'maximize', 'close' buttons on menu bar to extreme right of menubar when menubar is on a mdi parent (without using a miscobject)
    - Auto listing of childwindows (to prevent extra code)

    --Other--
    - Not giving up on ActiveX because of .net framework...
    - An announcement on future updates !

Continue on with the great work,
    Julien
