Using AxisLabels

I have a simple multiseries line chart and I've had no problem setting custom labels on my XAxis, however they're overlapping so I'd like to adjust the orientation of the text.
AxisLabel.Angle seems like what I should use, but I can't seem to get ahold of that object.

Can anybody point me to sample code (including in the ChartExplorer samples if I just somehow missed it in there) that can show me how to get ahold of an actual AxisLabel or AxisLabelCollection for either a custom Axis or the default X axis?

Are the charting controls by Xceed interactive ?

I'm using ASP.NET Web Forms.

I need charting controls that are interactive - I need some sort of "click" event because when the user clicks on a "slice" of a "pie chart" I have to know what the "slice" the user clicked so I can update the page accordingly .....

Please let me know if the Xceed control can do this or not :-)

I am new the Xceed chart and have tried to set up a new basic project

I am using VS2010 on Windows 7 64bit Xceed Chart for aspx 4.3

I followed the direction from post 20595 but when I place the contol on the page I get the following error

Hi,

Wondering if anyone else has come across this. Im running a site under ASP.NET 2.0, IIS6 on a shared host (DiscountASP.NET). When I upload the XCeed.Chart.GraphicsGL.dll assembly I get the following exception during startup:

If I remove the assembly, the error goes away.

Any ideas?

After reading the entire page again, I see that the "Unique Innovations" section is included on every features page. This is mis-leading. I downloaded your product because I thought there would be some web interactivity involved with the graphs, but its just like every other web graphing feature that creates an image.

My search continues. I hate to have to write something of my own.

Display 24 hours in X- axis (12.00AM to 12.00AM)

I'm new to Xceed chart. I have a requirement that need to display the hours (12.00 AM to 12.00 AM) in x axis for selected day. In Y axis have to dispaly double value. I could able to use the examples from sample folders but X- axis not starting with 12.00 AM. It always starts with first available time. For example If I I use the following data to display in chart, the X- axis is starting with 5.30AM, but I want to start with 12.00AM and end with 12.00AM. How to acheive this?

Mesh Surface Chart

I am trying to graph the results of a genetic algorithm. Just for testing purposes I am running 10 generations of 20 individuals so I have an X1 coordinate, X2 coordinate and a Fitness when I am done. I cannot seem to figure out how to get this data to display in a mesh surface chart. My results are really ugly and not at all in the wave form I was expecting. What trick am I missing? Here is a sample of one generation of points that I was using as input into the surface setvalue:

Issue with Xceed.Chart.GraphicsGL - W2K8 I64 Dell T7400

I have the following error when I host my chart on I64 W2K8/IIS 7. it is totally fine in my Vista 32 bit/IIS7.

What is the issue here? I have register the dll to GAC and restart the server and still unable to fix this issue.

Generic error occurred in GDI+

I am trying to just run and debug a quick start Charting example in the documentation and I hit the GDI+ issue. It looks like it throws exception as the control tries to save the output image to a temp dir. I believe this should not happen when we publish to webserver and the temp folder is setup properly with the necessary access. However, I want to run this from Visual Studio 2008. Can we do that? Otherwise it is not a pretty good scenario for development as you do not want to keep publishing to webserver when you are in development. As a developer I really need to be able to build and run my site with the xceed charting and see it works before I publish to the webserver.

Any work around?

Database and Populate X-Axis from database.

Hi. I am still new to Xceed chart for ASP.Net.

I can connect to the Database and fetch out the columns from a table and display them to my chart(xceed).

However, I can not specify my X-Axis to populate from the database.

For example, i want to plot a graph of Sales Vs Date.

On my Y-Axix, i can show the sales figure but can't show the Date(stored in the database).

Please can someone help me with the code to populate my X-axis from the database???

I got this error and I don't know why. The .NET version is supposed to be 3.0, but at the end of the error it says it's 1.1? I've worked with Xceed charts many times, but never received this particular error. This is the first time I'm using the charts on this particular server. Everything works fine, creating the ChartServerControl, binding the data, drawing it all.

The issue comes when assigning the imagemap for tooltip popups.

As you can see, your HTML rendered code is not taking into consideration the parent controls rendered ID/Name when writing the java for it.

I REALLY need a fix for this, or a workaround, it isn't functionally messing anything up, but i need the tooltips without the javascript error on the page.

There are three y values for corresponding x values. i need to specify all the x and y values and draw a straight line for parallel to y axis. Scroll Functionality

I'm evaluating the chart for use in a web application. While the WinForm chart appears to support scrolling, the ASP.NET chart does not - unless I'm missing something. The sample under Axis -> Ruler -> Axis Paging supports pagenation. I haven't seen any ASP.NET chart samples demonstrating scrolling. Are there any?

wrapping Time labels on X axis won't render

I'm trying to set the X axis of a stacked bar chart to display time values using database data that only includes time, no date. If my data crosses a 24 hour boundary the control does not render the labels and/or the data correctly. Depending on what settings I pick I can sometimes get it to render all of the data but the axis labels (major ticks) won't line up with the data and will only go as far as the point in time where there starts to be "duplicate" times from the next 24 hour period. With some settings it will not render the data at all.

I do not have DateTime data coming from the database, only Time data.
Any suggestions on how to handle this or correct the component's confusion?
What are the correct settings to use?

Different colors in same BarSeries?

My customer wants a BarSeries with different colors for different intervals, is this possible? As an example I have a barseries that spans from 1 - 10 on the X-axis, and we want to make the bar for 1 red, 2-4 yellow and 5-10 green. Is this possible with one BarSeries?

UseXValues doesn't really work as expected?

I'm, using a LineSeries with UseXValues set to True, with that I was hoping the data plotted doesn't have to be in order (since x position was given during plotting).
Even though the Point are placed correctly, the line drawn are still based on the order of numbers added (i.e. line is not from x-axis 0->n, but rather jumping all over due to order of the values added).

Hi, we've got multiple web servers, and currently using our database machine for /XceedTemp (and creating a virtual directory to the db machine). This isn't great, since it creates a single point of failure.

The reason we put it on the db server is because if one machine saves the file locally, the next request may or may not come back to the same server.

Is there any way to change the <img src=? Maybe with that, we can save the image to the local web server, then have the src be the name of the local machine instead of the virtual dns name.

Any other ideas? Thanks.

Removing NaN and 0% DataLabels

I'm making a StackedBar chart where I want to be able to have some stacked bars that won't be visible and also some completely empty intervalls where I want to remove the datalabels for these particular values. Is this possible? What I want to remove are data labels that display 0% or NaN.

i have a problem when i deploy my app to IIS server. it doesn't show me any error but when the page is loaded it show a empty (gray color) space in the graph space.

when i run the app in VS 2005 (other machine), it works fine.

xceed chart is installed in the IIS server.

BarSeries with AutoMin=false

I'm creating a stackedbar with percentage formatting, I'm only care from 95%-100%. Thus in the code:

axis.NumericScale.AutoMin = false;
axis.NumericScale.Min = 0.95;

This works great, however the BarSeries itself doesn't bound by this settings and keeps drawing further down the floor.

What do I need to set on the Bar/Chart to draw only until floor?

Hi, I'm having trouble with my Axis labels. This is for a line chart. I'm trying to use ValueFormat.Time on the x-axis because showing the full date takes up too much space. If I set line.UseXValues to true and populate the values (like in the example), then it works as expected.

However, if UseXValues is false, and AutoLabels is false, I can't control the format string of the DateTime. i.e. this doesn't do anything:

axis.ValueFormatting.Format = ValueFormat.Time;

I think it's because I'm setting the Labels property to a list of strings:

l.AddRange( dateStrings );
axis.Labels = l;

In the sample, the dates are converted to double with date.ToOADate(). That works when UseXValues is true. But axis.Labels expects strings. The reason I don't want to UseXValues is because you need a reference to the line object, i.e. line.UseXValues or line.XValues.Add().

I'm not sure if that made sense. It's kind of hard to explain.

controlling ChartServerControl's height

I want to make a page with an amount of charts. The number of charts will depend on user. So that I need to control the height of ChartServerControl and the position of charts dynamically. I try many times to adjust the chart position but still have either overlapping the charts or a big gap between them. I wonder is there any way or "formula" to calculate the height and position for both chart and ChartServerControl.

and change it to:

after compile: no error and no color in the background.

Newbie question...

I'm trying to figure out how to use data binding to make a stacked bar chart.
I have a stored procedure in a SQL database which returns 1 or more rows. Each row has 3 values - an error code, a count, and a day. I'm trying to graph the total error count for each day, with a stack portion for each error code. As far as I can tell, I'd have to create a Bar series for each error code, but I don't know the error codes in advance. I can't even figure out how to associate the X-axis values with the Day column.

Can someone shed some light on the right way to do this?

SVG examples question - browser crashs and problems

The SVG demos at http://demo.xceedsoft.com/XceedChartExplorer/ do not appear to work in IE 6 running the latest Adobe SVG viewer (3.03). The streaming example also crashed the browser, and the popular Firefox only displays blank panels where the SVG should be.

What systems does the SVG demos support?

Is the chart control supported by asp.net 2.0?

When trying to debug from VS2005 (using the asp.net internal web server) I get the following error message:

System.InvalidOperationException: Failed to map the path '/'

I read that this could be due to lack of rights to the temp dir, but which is the temp dir when not running from IIS? I've tried to set it to another dir (and grant aspnet full permissions) but I still get the same error.

I've also tried to move my asp.net 2.0 proj to IIS and run it from there, but then I get this error:

I've got a problem using "Our component in action : Xceed Chart Explorer for ASP.NET".
When I click in a kind of chart in the treeview, the web page display a NullReferenceException. The chart seems to be null.

Any Idea ?

Second thing : I've made a Line Chart, but I've tried several ways to set colors of the lineSeries, and there's only one way I got it, it's specifing colors with dataPoints.
Now I would like to set the color with SerieMode, because the legneds were all in same color, so impossible to distinct.

So I try this:

How to establish the maximum point of axes

Hi I have runnig an application that uses the chart asp.net control in PC1, the problem arise when I try from another pc, a login windows popup and ask the user to enter user/pwd to login to PC1.

I think this is something related to this lines of code:

GeneralSettings generalSettings = ChartServerControl1.ServerConfiguration.GeneralSettings;
generalSettings.TempDirectory = "/XceedTemp";
generalSettings.EnableAutoDelete= true;

I've gave to IUSR_PC1 full control permission for this TempDirectory .

some idea?

stacked bar series coloring & legend

I have created a sample stacked bar, databound to a datatable.

The bars show up as I expect, unfortunately, setting the bar color for each of the three BarSeries objects doesn't seem to work the way I have it -- each x value has a different color (all bars in a stack have the same color), instead of having three different color for each bar component.

As well, how do I change the legend so it shows the 3 bar series I added, instead of values for each X axis item?

--> binding the data
bar.Name = name

bar.Values.FillFromDataTable(data, valueColumn)
--> 3 values for each X-axis item

--> trying to assign colors to each series in the chart

Multiple Charts Automatic Layout?

hello i am adding more than one pie in a ChartServerControl, the problem is that they are drawed overlayed.

is therea way to automatically Layout the charts?

The number of pies I will add in the ChartServerControl is determined in runtime.

How Do I Add X Axis Labels To A Bar Chart?

I believe that this was not possible (or I didn't know how) to add x axis labels to a bar chart in Chart for ASP.NET version 3. It would always default to numbers 1,2,3...

Does anyone know how to add x axis labels across the bottom of Chart for ASP.NET version 4? I browsed through the sample bar charts and I didn't see any of them with the x axis labels across the bottom underneath the bar chart area.

Formatting Charts

We just got our source code from the company that we outsourced to. There is a chart that I need to edit. All what I need to do is to reduce the white space at the bottom of the Chart.
I went to the vb class code and changed this:

objChart.intlegendHeight = 60

to this:

objChart.intlegendHeight = 10

But I still don't see any changes. Do I need to look somewhere else?

Security Exception

I was just wondering if anyone has had a security exception thrown when they attempt to deploy their web application using the Chart for ASP.NET component? I have spent days trying to figure it out and even on a page with no code, just the component the error is thrown. With the line responsible being:
form id="Form1" method="post" runat="server">
Pages with out the component work fine.
