Error 2732 Directory Manager not initialized - Fix available here

The Xceed Components currently online gives an error "2732 Directory Manager not initialized" if used on Windows XP (maybe on other environments as well, but for now this is the only reported case).

This will be fixed in future releases. In the meantime, a fixed copy of the current version is available here.

Latest update - incomplete?

Looking at the latest updates, the Xceed Ultimate Suite hasn't been updated since 28th February, but some of the individual components it contains were updated on 22nd May.

Is there some reason this update is incomplete?

Xceed.FileSystem license missing?

Hello,

A .NET 2.0 project counts with Xceed ZIP 3.7 license in place. An error is issued related to Xceed.FileSystem license missing.

"Xceed.FileSystem.Licenser.LicenseKey must be set to a valid trial or registered license..." etc

Which of the products licenses would unlock Xceed.FileSystem and how to define this? I have read in other threads that using Xceed´s FTP key could work?

Please kindly provide further details.

Grid properties are not showing up in Visual Studio 2008.

Not sure when this changed, but the properties for any of the Xceed components do not show in the properties tab of VS 2008. The other System.<whatever> do show the properties.

The version for Docking Windows is .NET v2.1 build 2.1.9257.09160

Grid for .NET v3.8 build 3.8.9257.09160

Any suggestions?

The version of XceedComponentLicenser that is installed with Xceed Ultimate Suite 2011 v2 does not show entries for any of your Silverlight products nor for your WPF Themese product.

Is there a newer version of the utility available that includes all of the latest products?

Installing newer versions

Is it possible to install a new version of Xceed Ultimate Suite AND keeping the old version?
I tried, but the installer asked me to uninstall the old version.
If there is any workaround, it would greatly improve testing of newer versions on existing applications.

We also have PC's with run-time versions of our applications (and xceed).
What will happen if I install a new developer version of Xceed Ultimate Suite on such a PC?
Will the existing runtime version still work?

- Or is it necessary to dedicate a PC for testing new versions?

What does this mean? Does this mean that installation failed?

The general Xceed components package always defaults to installing the samples under "C:\Xceed Component Samples\", whereas the other packages use "C:\Xceed Samples\". This is quite annoying, especially as the installer for the general package can take up to 60 seconds to change the path, and the other installers don't offer an option. If there's no way for the installer to remember the sample path used in the previous installation, could it at least default to using the same path as the other packages?

On a related note, could we please have some consistency with launching the "Resource Center" after the install? The general package opens the application before you click the "Finish" button; one of the Silverlight packages offer an option to launch it after you click the button; the other packages have no option, and always launch after you click the button. When I'm trying to install five sets of updates, it's quite annoying to have these windows popping up in the background.

XceedComponents.exe - Error 1723

Attempting to install the latest XceedComponents.exe fails with error 1723 "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package". It seems to be falling over trying to display a message about removing the ActiveX components from the system.

"Security Exception" when running Xceed components in shared hosting environment (GoDaddy.com)

I have tried running both the Zip for .NET and Real-Time Zip for .NET components in GoDaddy's shared hosting environment (Medium trust level) and I get the following error:

Security Exception
Description: The application attempted to perform an operation not allowed by the security policy. To grant this application the required permission please contact your system administrator or change the application's trust level in the configuration file.

Exception Details: System.Security.SecurityException: That assembly does not allow partially trusted callers.

I've had a look at http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa302436.aspx and http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa302436.aspx however I don't see anything that helps.

Do Xceed components actually work in a shared hosting environment?

If so, what do I need to do to get them working?

Xceed component won't appear at design time

Hello,

I have a rather odd problem with one of my projects. I have several windows forms that already contains xceed component, the windatepicker for example. They work fine, they compile file, they look fine in design time and they run fine. I am trying to add another windatepicker. For some reason, the control is not shown on the canvas. I can only see in the reserve section at the bottom of the editor. When I compile and run it, the new component doesn't appear.

The license is added to the exceed component licenser and the status is registered (1 developer) so everything looks fine.

I have downloaded Xceed Datagrid for WPF ver 3.0.(exress version as it was free)
i recieved the licese key in my given mail id...

but after installation it says its valid uptill ony 45 days?????
So do i have to buy this Xceed grid?

Is there no such grid control provided by Xceed which is absolutly free????
Please do reply as soon as possible as i amstuck due to this 45 days thing. should i continue using this or not? as i cant buy this thing

I want to try Xceed Chart for asp.NET with .NET Framework 1.1 and Visual Studio 2003 but It seems that only the Xceed Chart for asp.NET v4.2 is downloadable, and it's only for .NET Framework 2 and latest.

Is it possible to download and to try Xceed Chart for asp.NET with .NET Framework 1.1 and Visual Studio 2003 or it's not either available?

Wrong dll version on load

I developed a test app with the Chart .NET version 4.1 under VS2005.

I loaded a new system with VS2008 and installed a trial of Xceed which uses Chart .NET version 4.2

On importing my VS205 project everything is fine until I load the form with the chart. I get an error saying it can't find the dll because it's looking for version 4.1.100.0 which is no longer on my system. I've searched everywhere for where this version is specified in my project files but can see nothing.

I can add a v4.2 Chaet Control to another form, but I can't open the original form.

Can someone tell me how my project files can be changed to correctly refer to the 4.2.x.x dll

I see that the datagrid controls are there, however I am unable to use them in my web application form.

I was able to reference and Imports everything, but when it comes to using the actual elements I am stuck.

I have also attempted to manually type the xaml but with no luck it just shows everything as a non-element.

I recently installed Visual Studio 2008 on my development machine. I had already had Visual Studio 2005, with the Xceed Grid 3.2 package installed, and the Xceed help included in the help system. When I installed 2008, I deleted and reinstalled the latest version of MSDN Library (not sure if this matters).

The result is, the Xceed help only exists within Visual Studio 2005. Is there a way to get the help added into the VS 2008 help system? It seems that if I try to reinstall Xceed 3.2, it only wants to add itself to VS 2005.

No free key sent on registration

Licensing some old components

A long time ago (2005), I bought Zip (version 2.3) and FTP (version 2.1) for .NET components. I still have the PDF document with the keys with my name and address. (I don't have the original invoice, I don't think,.) Just the other day I bought Grid for .NET. When I installed Grid, the license keys I was using for my FTP and ZIP components stopped working. Although I understand why--now that it's happened--I'm in a bind because I don't have backups of the FTP and ZIP components, and I now have some broken apps.

How can I get these old versions of the ZIP and FTP components? I would hate to be up the creek because I installed the newest Grid component.

Where do I place the licensekey info in VB.NET VS 2008?

I can't seem to get past the licensekey error when I try to run my project/solution in VS 2008 using VB.

I've tried entering the following:

Xceed.Editors.Licenser.LicenseKey = "mykey"

Xceed.Chart.Licenser.LicenseKey = "myotherkey"

None of these work -- I'm not using a Sub Main, I'm using a Startup Form. Any suggestions/hints where I'm supposed to place my license key values in code?

Missing tools when using with asp.NET 2005

I'm working through tutorials and testing stuff but am puzzled that I'm not finding the host of tools in the toolbox that are there when I use Xceed in a Windows application.
Am I missing something or are the components primarily designed for non-web applications?

Problems with Xceed Chart for ASP.net

I am trying to add the charting controls for ASP.net and I am able to choose them to add to my toolbox but only the pointer and the ChartServerControl are actually available for use. The others (ChartControl, ChartToolboxControl, and ChartGridControl) are grayed out. I can't figure out what is the problem. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Batch licensing

It sure would be nice to be able to have a means to enter more than one license key at a time into the Component Licenser utility. It is a pain having to go through and enter 15+ some-odd license keys individually. Perhaps an XML file with product IDs/Versions and license keys could be used to facilitate this?

I am currently developing an application in VB .NET (2003), with .NET framework version 1.1 and pretty old versions of Xceed components (Grid 2.5, Editors 1.0 etc).

If I need my application to work on Windows Vista do I need to upgrade to the newer versions of Xceed components (like 3.2 for Grid on .net 1.1 framework)?

Also, if I want to go for the latest Xceed component versions, do I have to migrate to VB 2005 with .NET 2.0, in order for the Xceed components to work?

Please let me know, and correct me if I have wrong ideas on this subject. Also could you let me know any other useful information in this regard?

Problem with trust level when deployed in shared hosting

I installed Xceed in my machine which has .Net 2005, both framework 2.0 and 3.0 running in it. After installation of xceed, i could seen Xceed controls in .Net 2.0 but in .Net 3.0 (WPF)
toolbox this has not been added.

Is there anyway we can add it to .net 3.0 (wpf) toolbox manually ??????????? or something is missing in it????????

Is this Xceed not compatible with WPF????????

Hello,

Good news for all of you that are only using or interested in one control (or only a few). The new download packages are less than 400K, and while installing, download only the subpackages you really want to install (for example, the Grid for .NET or Zip ActiveX subpackage). No more 70MB downloads just to get one or two components. Let's hope it all works properly. Please report any issues you find here.

Visual Studio 2005, components not shown in toolbox

I have an issue where I was initially using the datagrid wpf control and my toolbox in visual studio contained all of the available Xceed components. I have since installed a number of other things including reinstalling the WPF, WCF and WF extensions for visual studio and since doing such I can no longer see my toolbox Xceed controls. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the controls but still with no success. As it has been a while since I initially installed the controls I can not for the life of me remember how I initially manually installed the toolbox and your installatiion help does not mention this step.

i run the installation of the service pack for framework 1.1 component v 3.2
when i run the sample an error occur with the problem of licence.

I have just downloaded and installed the XceedComponents trial, but the components newer shows in Visual Studio 2005. How ever, the show up fine in Visual Studio 2003.

The problem migth be that I installed VS 2005 first, and then VS 2003, but how do I get the components to show in VS 2005, without reinstalling VS?

Installing Xceed in an External Drive Problem

Hi, I need help in installing the Xceed in an external drive... I installed it in an external drive because I want it to work in other PCs by putting all files in a portable external drive.

However, it does not work in other PCs.

I installed all its components in the G: Drive however I think there are still some files the installer installs in the C:\Windows or other paths in C:.

Can you help me in my problem? I want it all in G: or can you give me suggestions to make it work in other PCs without installing it all over again.

These errors occur in the final stage on installation, and the installer simply gives up, rolls back, and on the final screen simply tells me to "try again later" with no real indication of why it would suddenly work "later" when it didn't work this time. (And unsurprisingly, it doesn't work later...). So has anyone seen these errors before? Can you tell me what they mean, and how I can rectify things so the installer will work? I have the full log but would not want to post it here.

We're installing this on a system that had an older version of some of the Xceed components on it, but they were seemingly uninstalled cleanly. We've tried the obvious stuff (make sure no trace of old components, reboot, etc.). Anyone else out there in userland encounter this? It does not happen on every system here, but it has happened on 2 so far.

When i make an update from version 1.2.5309.0 2005-06-14 to 1.2.5320.0 2005-06-21 i become the error message Internal Error 2753. h2reg.exe.

When i will deinstall version 1.2.5309.0 2005-06-14 i become the same error message.

I have Windows XP SP2 Professional, Visual Studio 6.0 (NOT .NET).

Hwahts wrong whit the Xceed Setup?

I was recently trying to upgrade to Delphi 7. I accidentally overwrote some of my components with older version (4.2) now I get the following message when trying to upgrade back to the correct version.

Error 1714. The older version of Xceed Binary Encoding Library 1.1 cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group.

No components installed

After installing the components, no components show up in the xceed licenser program. I am unable to use any of the components as I cannot set any of the licenses. The components can be added to the vb.net toolbox but dont work because of the license issue. The sample programs do not work either. I am running windows XP professional edition with 512MB DDR Ram at 2.66 GHz. I have downloaded the latest version of xceed components and it still didn't work. The components have installed on my laptop properly and works fine. I cannot understand what the problem might be on my other computer. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I just run the DLL updater for the encryption libraries...
Now I never install development tools on my C:\ drive. That is a drive that is sacred it terms of stability so everything for development goes on an external firewire drive... (X:\)

I have XCeed installed in x:\activex\xceed.
I ran the updater. It removed the directory from there, and installed it to c:\program files\xceed components. You don't normally expect an updater to move files without asking. :) Maybe ask for the location before just installing?
