New, smaller installation package that downloads on demand

Hello,

Good news for all of you that are only using or interested in one control (or only a few). The new download packages are less than 400K, and while installing, download only the subpackages you really want to install (for example, the Grid for .NET or Zip ActiveX subpackage). No more 70MB downloads just to get one or two components. Let's hope it all works properly. Please report any issues you find here.

Thank you,
Odi

Re: New, smaller installation package that downloads on dema

Whilst this is a nice idea, can I still obtain the downloaded install for archiving purposes. I require the ability to go back and recreate past builds and to do that I often need to revert to older versions of 3rd party tools.

If I can't download the complete installer, can you tell me exactly what directories, files and registry entries I should backup with each build so I can restore them to a machine to redo the build.

Many Thanks

Adrian

Re: New, smaller installation package that downloads on demand

Hello,
When I use the new installer, I get the following error when it tries to download the subpackage Component Licenser:

Product: Xceed Components -- Error 1606.Could not access network location http://download3.xceedsoft.com/Packages/3.0.7170.16360/XceedC~1.cab.

Please advise.

Thanks

Hi Adrian,

you will always be able to download a previous version of our package whenever you want. We already keep an history of all the packages on our update center page.

We will also add the possibility to download the full and the "install from the web" packages from there. (note that you can download the full package for the version 3.0.7170.16360 from here now)

Have a nice day!

Hi Arjan,

I just retried the complete install and it went fine without problems. Can you retry the install again? Maybe there were a connection break while installing.

If you still have issues with the installer, you can download the full installer for the version 3.0.7170.16360 from here.

Let me know is you are still having problems with the "install from the web" package.

Thanks and have a nice day!

Re: New, smaller installation package that downloads on dema

Hi Jacques,

Thanks for your reply.

Eventually I was able to download the package.
The problem I had was caused by our proxy server at work. When the installer tries to download the subpackage from your server, I think it does not use the proxy settings from Internet Explorer so authentication fails.

Cheers
