    Bug when backup registry key

I believe it's bug. I have test with my system, when i try to backup the following key
1: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software (This key is work well no error found.)
    2: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE (It's error with this key.)

For HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software it's can backup with no error event all subkey, but
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE it's content the large subkey in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes , the XceedBackup always error with large number of subkey, i know that i can fix error by providing all subkey, but when then subkey contents hundred of keys it's not natural way to do this.

I have purchased an Xceed Datamanipulation and believe Xceed's developer can fix this bug.

    Thanks.

Xceed Backup Library will not allow you to backup registry keys that are currently being used. The registry key backup feature is very light and will not allow you to do full backups of registries. It was designed to backup specific keys and not a sub set of keys.

Re: Bug when backup registry key

Have you tried backing up the entre registry and not just one key?

It is always a good idea to keep a backup of your registry handy. Windows XP has made that a lot easier with the System Restore feature, but I have seen anything from viruses to spyware mess those backups up. It is nice to have a backup on a CD or external drive that you KNOW is good.

Its not too difficult to export a copy of your registry. Open regedit and click on file and then export. Name the file and that's about it.

If you are new to regedit or don't feel comfortable poking around in the registry before you know what you are doing, you can read a tutorial that walks you through backing up your registry step by step in Windows 9X or XP/2000. at http://www.schrockinnovations.com/regbackup.php

    Good luck!
