Can we use JAWS to read the contents of Xceed datagrids?

    Hi All,

Am using xceed datagrid in my application. I have installed the latest JAWS and when i start the JAWS(after running my application), it is reading all the controls and its contents that are there in my application except for the one's present in my xceed grid. Can we actually make this happen? Do we have any such option in our xceed grid which can allow JAWS to read its content?

In order for the grid to be supported by JAWS, it will require UI automation, which is scheduled to be part of the next version of the grid. For the moment, you will not be able to detect the grid with JAWS.

    Hi Jenny,

Thanks for the response. It would be grateful if i can know whether there is any beta version and when would be the next release.

    Thanks,

    Corleone.

Please see the roadmap, it says when UI automation is scheduled for, as well as other features.

    Hi Odi,

With reference to your reply and the road map provided above, we understand that JAWS will be compatible with XCEED v3.1.

We have got the latest XCEED version(v3.1) but still we are not able to achieve our purpose. We have tried with JAWS 11 trial version. Can you please confirm whether this feature has been enabled or still in pipe?

    Thanks,

    Corleone.

    Would you try with v3.5?

    Hi Odi,

    Thanks for your swift response.

Currently in our project we are using Xceed v3.1 only. We would anyways move on and get v3.5, but do you have any fair idea on whether this feature is certainly enabled in Xceed v3.5 or not ? Because we are doing a POC on this and your inputs would be really helpful for determining the build hours and project estimates.

    Thanks,

    Corleone.

I checked with the developers just to be sure. We have not tried JAWS with the datagrid. Windows narrator (similar?) does work though. If JAWS uses UI Automation, it should too.
