Exporting to PDF would be nice feature.  A option to let you use the colors the Grid is currently using for (PDF, XPS) would be nice as well.

Re: Roadmap for Q4 2008 and beyond

I have not yet used the printing capabilities of the datagrid, as I'm neck-deep into development of my project.  I assumed that exporting to PDF would produce a similar file as the XPS export.

I can't wait for the unbound column support.  I actually need it right now!  I created another post ("Initialize DataRow in WPF DataGridControl") for initializing each and every DataRow.  (I need to disable certain rows - or make them readonly - depending on the values of a particular column.

     Thanks

Re: Roadmap for Q4 2008 and beyond

    Hi

When do you plan to release a final version of Xceed DataGrid for WPF V3.1?

We are very interested in the "persist user settings" such as column widths, opened/closed Groups, Column position. Is this what you understand under "persist user settings"?

    Thnaks for your reply

    Frank

Re: Roadmap for Q4 2008 and beyond

    Hi Frank,

v3.1 is planned for releas this month, but there are still lots of days left this month :)

Persist user settings will save a variety of settings that are not dependent on the actual data. Anything dependent on the data itself, such as groups opened/closed and filters applied, are not persisted. Part of the feature of Persist User Settings includes an extensibility mechanism for you to add your own items you wish to persist, including groups opened/closed.

    Persisted items:

    • Column widths
    • Column positions
    • Column visibilities (hidden columns using the new Column Chooser)
    • Fixed column splitter position
    • Sorting
    • Grouping (groups created)
    • Card widths

Since development of v3.2 and more new versions (we have had 22 releases in 24 months, almost one a month) is continuous, please continue to suggest improvements so that we can build in what you need.

Do you have an update for Version 3.0 of the Express Edition? The website says it was targeted for Q4 2008. Thanks.

Re: Roadmap for Q4 2008 and beyond

A major update is being prepared. It should definitely make the wait worth it, and will be released at the same time as the Professional Edition v3.1, this January 2009. That's all I can say for now :)

Are you planning to give out a beta to testers before the release. You have my contact details from the PDC.

Re: Roadmap for Q4 2008 and beyond

I have a question about the Print Preview feature that is being planned for 3.2.

Will it show the Header / Footer that is specified for the DataGrid?

It would be great if you could allow the user to alter the Header and Footer in this Print Preview.  For instance let them choose if they want page numbers...or the Font size of the Header....etc.

    David,

Can't answser the Print Preview question yet. We haven't started work on it. But we'll take into account your requirement when beginning work on it.

    Thanks,

Re: Roadmap for Q4 2008 and beyond

    Hi Odi,

I have one more feature request for you to consider. We often have an object like employee, it has child objects which are also employee object. I think you sort of did it in your master/detail sample, but there is a difference between employee\employee relation and employee\order relation when it comes to master/detail. The employee\employee relation actually has the same column definition between master and detail objects so we really don't want new column headers to created, we want both the parent and child share the same colum headers.

I can send you a screenshot if you like. so, do you think it's worthwhile thinking? This is actually a feature i have been using with Janus windows form grid, they call it self-referencing and it's pretty useful. so far that's the only thing i can't do with xceed grid.

Re: Roadmap for Q4 2008 and beyond

Calculated columns would be a great addition. Preferably with a simple interface! (like an event called per row where we could populate our new columns).

I know you can do this by binding to custom objects, but sometimes you just want to bind to a datatable or something.

Re: Roadmap for Q4 2008 and beyond

It's my understanding that QTP support was not included in the v3.1 version.  Do you know when this will be implemented?

Re: Roadmap for Q4 2008 and beyond

    Jeffrey,

We're still working on QTP support. We need a better connection to HP for support, I'm working on that now.
