Is it possible to take data from excel, assuming all of the cols line up, and paste it directly into the Xceed DataGrid?

Currently, this is not possible with the Xceed DataGrid for Silverlight. The only drag and drop is from DataGrid to DataGrid, DataGrid to Excel. or DataGrid to XML. There is no other control outside of the DataGrid other than another DataGrid to drag and drop.
